Meet Dave – one of our three dedicated regular drivers who help keep Alliance Seating running smoothly behind the scenes. Dave’s week on the road is nothing short of impressive, covering thousands of miles, dozens of locations, and delivering hundreds of handcrafted seating units – all with a smile (and usually a dessert in hand).
The Monday Morning Start
Dave’s week begins bright and early – and we mean early. Most Monday mornings, he’s out the door by 4:30am, hitting the road before the rest of us have even made our first cup of tea. Once he arrives at the depot, his first job is always safety.
Every morning starts with a thorough vehicle check, including:
✅ Tyre pressure & wheel fixings
✅ Engine fluids topped up
✅ Mirrors, glass, windscreen wipers & washers
✅ Warning lamps, horn, and brakes
✅ Steering functionality
✅ General HGV health – making sure there’s no visible damage or issues
These checks are vital to ensure every delivery is safe and on schedule.
Miles, Units & Destinations
On average, Dave covers an impressive 1,700 miles each week, delivering around 747 seating units to 19 different locations. His deliveries include task chairs and operator chairs – each one carefully assembled and checked off during unloading to ensure accuracy and quality.
From the Scottish Highlands to the South Coast, Dave sees it all. One consistent stop? Bread Source in Norwich, where he never misses the chance to grab his favourite: a hearty helping of granola to keep him fuelled on the road.
Life on the Road
After long days behind the wheel, Dave winds down in his sleeper cab. A good truck stop is essential – not just for a shower and hot meal, but for that all-important dessert he looks forward to each evening.
